New Haven runs on two things: Yale University and its own style of thin-crust pizza, usually called apizza. Frank Pepe's and Sally's have been arguing over who invented it for decades.
The Yale campus is free to walk through, and the Peabody Museum of Natural History is worth an hour even if you have no connection to the school.
