Kentucky's bourbon industry is concentrated enough that a marked trail connects the major distilleries across the central part of the state.

Louisville hosts the Kentucky Derby every May at Churchill Downs, a tradition running since 1875. Lexington, in the heart of horse country, is surrounded by the bluegrass farms that supply much of the thoroughbred racing industry nationwide. Mammoth Cave, in the south, is the longest known cave system in the world.

Bourbon and horses are both taken as seriously as the state's reputation suggests.
