Washington state runs from Seattle's coffee culture to Mount Rainier's glaciers, visible from the city skyline on a clear day.

Seattle's Pike Place Market and waterfront anchor a city that takes coffee seriously enough to have started the industry's biggest chain here. Olympic National Park, on the peninsula west of the city, holds one of the only rainforests in the continental United States. Spokane, on the drier eastern side of the state, has a completely different climate and culture from the coast.

Rain is common on the western side most of the year, which is exactly why the coffee culture developed the way it did.
