Graffiti USA Classic Car Museum

Graffiti USA Classic Car Museum is a nonprofit museum celebrating Modesto's car-cruising heritage, directly inspired by native son George Lucas's 1973 film 'American Graffiti,' which depicted teenage cruising culture on Modesto's streets in the early 1960s. The museum occupies a large facility near the old Highway 99 corridor, close to the original site of Burge's Drive-In, the legendary turnaround point of the historic Modesto cruise route.

Exhibits combine classic and vintage cars with replica 1960s storefronts, memorabilia, and murals meant to recreate the atmosphere of a cruise night, and the museum continues to expand its rotating vehicle collection as renovations progress.

The museum is closely tied to Modesto's annual Graffiti Summer celebration and American Graffiti Festival, and its car shows and cruise-night events serve as an extension of that citywide car culture tradition, making it as much a living community hub for local car enthusiasts as a static exhibit space.
