John Thurman Field

John Thurman Field is a 4,000-seat municipally owned baseball stadium that opened in 1955 as Del Webb Field, named for the Yankees co-owner and former semipro Modesto ballplayer who backed its construction. It was substantially renovated in 1997 and later renamed for California State Assemblyman John E. Thurman, a Modesto native and World War II veteran.

For two decades the stadium was home to the Modesto Nuts, a Single-A minor league affiliate that most recently played in the Seattle Mariners organization before departing after the 2025 season; the ballpark is now home to the Modesto Roadsters of the MLB Partner League's Pioneer League beginning in 2026.

The stadium's intimate, bare-bones charm — close sightlines, a grass berm, and traditional concessions — has long made it a favorite for baseball purists and families looking for an easygoing, affordable night out, and it continues to host concerts and community events beyond its baseball schedule.
