Tuolumne River Regional Park

Tuolumne River Regional Park (TRRP) is a developing riverside park system spanning more than 500 acres and nearly seven miles of frontage along the Tuolumne River, running through Modesto from Mitchell Road to Carpenter Road. It's jointly managed by the City of Modesto, Stanislaus County, and the City of Ceres through a joint powers authority, and is organized into six distinct service zones, including the Legion Park, Gallo/Mancini Park, and Gateway Park areas.

Riparian forest along this stretch of river has been used recreationally by Modesto residents since the city's founding in the 1870s, first informally for swimming and fishing and later, starting in the 1920s, through formal park planning; a 1930s dam and lake at the site were destroyed in a 1940 flood, and modern redevelopment has continued since the 1970s.

When fully built out, the park is planned to include 150 acres of developed parkland and 350 acres of restored riparian habitat with over five miles of trails — a scale of urban river restoration that is unusual for a Central Valley city, making it a distinctive outdoor and nature-watching resource within Modesto's city limits.
