Dinuba

Dinuba calls itself Raisinland U.S.A., a nod to the fruit-packing and raisin economy that has driven the town since the Pacific Improvement Company, the land arm of the Southern Pacific Railroad, founded it in 1888. The surrounding orchards and vineyards still ship peaches, nectarines, grapes, and raisins by the ton, and Dinuba is even the birthplace of the "Dinuba" plum variety.

Downtown Dinuba centers on Heritage Square, where the Alta District Museum occupies a restored 1916 Southern Pacific depot, and Rose Ann Vuich Park, named for the Dinuba native who became the first woman elected to the California State Senate. The park hosts the annual Raisin Day Festival each September, the clear high point of the town.'s calendar. Ridge Creek Dinuba Golf Club, a municipal course designed by John Fought, rounds out the town.'s own attractions.

Dinuba sits in Tulare County, about 12 miles east of Highway 99 along State Route 63, with Visalia, Reedley, and Exeter all a short drive away. Most visitors treat it as a quiet agricultural stop or a base for exploring the surrounding Central Valley towns, rather than a destination in its own right.
