California Living Museum (CALM)

A 14-acre zoo and botanical garden in northeast Bakersfield, about 30 minutes from Wasco, founded in 1983 and focused specifically on Kern County native plants and animals rather than exotic species. It's consistently voted Bakersfield's best family attraction, and its holiday lights display with more than three million lights is a genuine seasonal draw beyond the zoo itself.
