Stanislaus River

The river Riverbank is named for, with real access for fishing, kayaking, and riverfront picnics right by town, most easily reached through Jacob Myers Park. The Stanislaus flows down from the Sierra Nevada foothills and past Knights Ferry before reaching Riverbank, and its water level and clarity shift noticeably with the seasons, running fuller and colder during spring snowmelt. Anglers fish for trout and bass depending on the stretch and time of year, and the riverbank itself offers enough shade for a comfortable picnic even in Central Valley summer heat.
