Riverbank Historical Museum

Housed in a small building on Santa Fe Street, this volunteer-run museum was started in 1983 by local residents to preserve Riverbank's history as a ferry crossing and railroad town, with photographs and artifacts from the town's early decades. Exhibits cover the cable ferry that predated the Santa Fe Railroad's arrival, the depot that once anchored downtown, and the agricultural families who built the surrounding area. It's a small, personal operation rather than a polished institution, and that hands-on quality is really the appeal. Hours are limited since it's entirely staffed by volunteers, so it's worth checking ahead before a special trip.
